Summary

This is a searing indictment of the Catholic hierachy and the society that spawned and protected abusers. It is the true story of how 21 priests carried out unchecked abuse against minors at the Diocese of Ferns since 1966. This case precipitated the first state investigation of clerical abuse, The Ferns Report, which caused shockwaves around the world. Tom Mooney is editor of The Wexford Echo, and has reported on the clerical abuse scandal in Ferns since 1990. He was one of two journalists to report the first ever trial of a priest charged with sexual assault in Ireland.
