Author Biography

About Faye Turner As the wife of an Air Force aircraft mechanic, Faye Turner gathered inspiration for her writing from her experiences traveling the globe and keeping her migratory family together. During her travels she developed an appreciation for global culture and the history that shapes our world. The story of Alexander the Great piqued her interest and she spent years researching the Alexandrian era. While many historians and authors have extensively covered the life of Alexander, Turner is the first to examine the people and events that preceded Alexander's birth. She paints an accurate picture of what was likely to have happened in the events leading up to his birth in her two book series, ôSon of the Braceletö beginning with ôBefore the Dawnö. Turner's holistic approach helps her readers understand the behind-the-scenes forces at work in ancient Greece that would eventually change the world under Alexander's rule. Throughout her travels, Turner exercised her creativity with hobbies such as drawing and painting, graphic design, singing in various choral groups, sewing and designing clothes for her children and herself, and growing and producing her own herbal extracts as she researched the medicinal properties of herbs and minerals for her books.Turner relies on historical records of the period to build the story around the actions of the physician to Alexander's family, Phillip. The book is written from his perspective, and offers an insider's view of the wide-ranging political, religious, and economic forces that moved and shaped the ancient world. In order to accurately portray the political and social climate of the time, Turner made a trip to Greece to conduct primary research for the book series. She became a self-taught expert in the Greek culture, including the writings of Hippocrates, the use of ancient medical herbs, Greek mythology and ancient religion. Turner has also extensively researched Alexander and his world, the structure of power in ancient civilizations, the history of the pharaohs of Egypt, and the orators and leaders of ancient Greece. Turner currently lives in Kingston, Tennessee with her husband of 55 years. They enjoy traveling and gardening together. When Turner is not writing she pursues her passions for graphic design and photography.
