About the Exam The Advanced Placement European History examination is offered each May at participating schools and multi-school centers in the United States and more than 30 other countries. The Advanced Placement Program is designed to allow high school students to pursue college-level studies while attending high school. Format of the AP European History Exam The AP European History exam is approximately three hours and five minutes long. The exam is divided into two sections.
