SummaryTable of ContentsAuthor Biography
Once read, Berger's insights make it impossible to look at a painting, watch a film, or even make love quite the same way again. The vast range of subjects he addresses, the lean beauty of his prose, and the disarming simplicity of his opinions move the reader to view life, art, and the powers that bind us with a new lens of awareness. And the thread that binds these pieces throughout -- whether discussing the crisis Guernica visited upon Picasso or plumbing the enigmatic silence of his mother -- is the depth and fury of his passion, challenging us to see, to participate, to protest, and to cherish the living moment.
