Gr 5-9 -Two titles that focus on some of the rapid changes in their respective fields. Electronics looks at the development of popular devices from conception to implementation. The introductory chapter describes how the valve gave way to the microchip, how analog and digital signals differ, the many advantages of a digital signal, and the ability to store large amounts of information in the digital format. Following chapters examine cell phones, radio, music, cameras, television, video, and electronic games. A look into the future envisions cellular television and cellular teeth. Computers describes early machines and then looks at embedded computers, robotics, communication, imaging and simulation, viruses, spyware, hackers, and the future of computers.
