Based on historical documents and more than five years of research, Broken Trail tells the story of a rancher who comes across five Chinese girls who are being transported from San Francisco to Wyoming, where they will be forced into prostitution in a mining camp. The story, written by Alan Geoffrion, has been made into a screenplay. The movie will air on June 24th and 25th on AMC and stars Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church. After the death of his sister, cowboy Print Ritter and his young nephew find adventure while driving horses to Wyoming, and attempt to rescue five young Chinese girls from being forced into prostitution. Alan Geoffrion was born in New York, but believes that it was intended that he be born in Virginia and claims to be a native son of that state. He was educated at the University of Tennessee, served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and was also a merchant marine. Geoffrion spent years in newspaper and magazine publishing, and he has been involved with horses and the horse business for more than 40 years. Geoffrion has written several screenplays, including Time and Chance. Broken Trail is his first novel. He lives in the Virginia Piedmont. |
