The Search for Scholarships is a working referece manual for anyone who is applying for scholarships. Written and designed by a college instructor as a tool for students in the scholarship search process. This book offers a systematized way to effectively manage the cumbersome and often overwhelming process of finding and applying for multiple scholarships. By following The Andrews Systems students are able to apply for 100 scholarships per year. This system is proven to be effective with folllowers earning in excess of $1M in scholarships. About Eve-Marie Andrews Publishing In 1993 I completed my graduate studies at San Francisco State University. After six years of determination and self-discipline, I had earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts, a Bachelor of Studies Degree in Liberal Studies, and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling. I was thrilled and felt a great sense of accomplishment, but I was also $20,000 in debt. In spite of the fact that I had lived a Spartan life and sold many personal possessions in order to pay for tuition and purchase textbooks, I was struggling financially. As an undergraduate student, I had earned several small scholarships and tried researching for more grants and scholarships. Unfortunately, I didn't have the resources in the late 80's that are available now. My only options were to work 20 hours a week and to apply for student loans. Once I entered graduate school, my time became even more precious. My plan was to complete my counseling degree in two years so that I could start working to pay my student loans.Within three weeks of completing my degree, I was offered an adjunct position teaching a Career and Life Planning class at Ca±ada College in Redwood City, California. Obviously, a part time position was not going to provide the necessary income to pull me out of the cost of my education. It was necessary to find other part time positions, and to create a rigid budget. My plan was to be debt free within five years. After eleven years of studying, working, and keeping tight control of money, my goal was met. I went one month beyond my five years because I decided I had earned a cruise to Alaska.Realizing that many other students needed a way to pay for their education, I created a scholarship class in 1998. You can imagine my amazement when the first two classes (about 25 students) won over $100,000 in scholarships. After four years of teaching the class and giving workshops through community education and at Puente Conferences, the time seems right to make the process available to other colleges. The system does work, and students who have continued the research process are indeed being awarded the necessary money for college. It is crucial to take the time to set up a portfolio and to be diligent about organization and timing. Keep up your grade point average, become involved in community service, and follow directions to a tee -- you, too, will reap the reward of finding money for college. |
