Summary

Julia Wood, a leading scholar in the field of communication, brings us a new edition of the extremely popular Communication Mosaics: An Introduction to the Field of Communication, Sixth Edition.

The new edition continues with the holistic approach to the field of communication by first explaining the basic processes central to all communication contexts (listening, perceiving, using verbal and nonverbal communication, establishing climate), and then applying these processes to various contexts (interpersonal, small group, public, organizational, intercultural, mass communication, and personal and social media).

Through reviewer and student-praised "Student Voices" features, seamless and thoughtful integration of diversity, skill-building pedagogy, and real-life examples, users are exposed to the vast world of communication and the tools needed to become effective communicators.

This textbook will provide readers with a clear understanding of the fundamental skills and processes part of communication encounters in personal, professional, and public life in the twenty-first century.

Communication Mosaics is a top-rate introductory text for the field of communication. Dr. Wood's writing style is friendly for the beginning student, but she references enough studies to please even the most ardent scholar. Her text is balanced, enlightening, and reader-friendly. Wood has integrated so many important areas for beginning Communication Studies majors into one text and organized the chapters in a way that makes these areas accessible.

Another one of the few textbooks I read cover to cover . I feel that it would give the students a depth of understanding in the core communication principles. This textbook will provide readers with a clear understanding of the fundamental skills and processes part of communication encounters in personal, professional, and public life in the twenty-first century. I recommend it for those who know absolutely nothing about communication.
