Summary

Since the first edition of "Equine Nutrition and Feeding" was published in 1986, it has become the standard work on the subject, covering every aspect of the nutrition of breeding, growing and working horses, and describing the basis upon which scientifically derived conclusions for nutrition and dietary requirements are reached.Comprehensive and clearly evidenced, the fourth edition of this popular book has been extensively revised and the evidence base expanded. The book includes a full account of the toxicology, and metabolic diseases and other diseases related to diet. The causes and control of these are discussed and comprehensive lists of definitions of terms and the abbreviations are provided. A separate chapter is now dedicated to weaning and growth of the foal, and a new design and increased "signposting" encourage easier navigation within the book.

Author Biography

David Frape BSc (Reading), PhD (Iowa), Dip Agric (Cantab), CBiol, FSB, FRCPath, RNutr, has published numerous papers and articles on equine nutrition. He is also a scientific consultant, a member of the Editorial Board of Equine Veterinary Journal, a member of the Laminitis Trust, and Editor of World Agriculture.
