Author Biography

Gerry and Janet Souter are graduates of the Chicago Art Institute and the University of Chicago, and have written 24 books, including several on US Presidents. They are the authors of Carlton's hugely successful Founding Fathers and The Vietnam War Experience. Professor Richard D. Brown is currently Director of the University of Connecticut Humanities Institute and is a former elected member of the Advisory Council of the Society of Historians of the Early American Republic and the Council of the Institute of Early American History and Culture. He has written several books and articles, including Modernization: The Transformation of American Life, 1600-1865 and The Strength of a People: The Idea of an Informed Citizenry in America, 1650-1870.
