You may have read sports books before, but you’ve never read one like this. You’re the main character, a young Somali immigrant and a former refugee, and it’s up to you to lead your team to victory! You love soccer and you’re good at it. But you’re Goal-Minded, so you have other dreams, like going to college and becoming a writer. For now, you’re focused on winning the championship—or you should be. There’s also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a workshop with your favorite author. Should you play in the tournament or plan for your future? Goal-Minded isn’t like other soccer books for kids. With an interactive format, your choices affect the story’s outcome. Plus, it’s a game within a game: Collect points for your decisions in order to upgrade your character’s soccer skills. So read the book by Lisa M. Bolt Simons, collect the points, and choose to win!

Author Biography

Lisa M. Bolt Simons is a writer whose publications include 17 nonfiction children’s books and various articles in publications, such as Minnesota Parent and Minnesota Monthly. She exercises almost regularly and has been a loud yeller from the sidelines for her three brothers’ and now twin children’s sports teams. She competed in her first triathlon in her mid-40s, swore she’d never do it again, but did, anyway, the following summer. Her writing has been recognized with several awards and grants—and when she’s not writing, Lisa is also a licensed teacher. Originally from Colorado, she’s lived in Mexico, Italy, Japan, and now Faribault, MN. For more information, visit her website at lisamboltsimons.com.
