Summary

With more than 250 color photographs, at turns arresting and gorgeous, this stunning companion includes all of the epic animal dramas that are featured in the unprecedented high definition television event to air on the National Geographic Channel. In a world of changing global temperatures both on land and in the sea, the annual migrations of animals include amazing stories of incredible strength and the will to survive. Capitalizing on new technology and the subsequent means of tracking animals, pioneering scientists have uncovered new details that help us to understand a world in constant motion. In this magnificent companion to the groundbreaking 7-hour miniseries, animal journeys are illustrated with images by National Geographic-caliber photographers and with iconic stills from the film. Informational sidebars throughout the book highlight new technology, preeminent scientists and photographers in the field, and the backstories behind the memorable seven-part documentary.
