Why Sell Your Books?

Selling your books back to our company allows you to save even more money on your school textbooks. Selling your used books through your Virtual Bookstore storefront gets you top dollar and enables us to pass the savings on to you and other students. The earlier you sell back your books at the end of the term, the more they're worth and the more likely it is that we'll buy them. The more used books we have on our site, the more opportunities students have to save money, period. We offer some of the most competitive prices around, buy tons of items, and offer several payment options!

Buyback Prices

The price we offer for a used book is based on its future use. We look at several different factors when we determine the price that we will pay for your used books. The most important determining factor is whether a book is being re-used from semester to semester. If the book is being re-used at your school or organization, we will offer top dollar for the item. In addition to your school, we also look at the need for this book nationwide.

Don't worry if your school isn't re-using one of your books, chances are we'll still buy the item. There may be other schools across the nation that are still using this book, creating demand. If many schools are using this text, the price we will pay will still be high.

The best time to sell your books back to us is at the end of each term. When you sell back your books during finals week, or shortly after, you're guaranteed to get the best price we can offer. If you try to sell a book to us in the middle of a semester and we aren't buying it, try back at the end of the term.

Buyback Book Conditions

We maintain high standards with our buyback program. Buyback items may contain highlighting, writing or margin notes throughout, but not to excess. Items listed on our Buyback pages as package editions must arrive with all items intact, or will not be accepted. Books must be generally clean in appearance with no torn pages and with the cover and spine intact.

Any books received that can't be sold due to poor condition, or because the book received was different than the book listed on your buyback order cannot be credited at the price quoted on the website when the buyback order was created. You will receive an email letting you know about the damaged or incorrect book if the value is less than $20, we will return the item to you for a $10 shipping/handling fee if you respond within 10 days. If the value is more than $20, we will return your item to you for a $10 shipping/handling fee if you respond within 10 days or we can issue a $10 in-store credit in lieu of payment.

We will not accept teacher's editions, instructor's editions, international editions, and other like editions; these will be destroyed if received. Payment will not be issued for any item that is destroyed.

Payment Options

We want to make sure you get paid for your books in the easiest and fastest way possible. When you submit your buyback in our system we offer three different payment methods to suit your needs: In-Store Credit, Check, or ACH Direct Deposit. When you select the Direct Deposit option, you will need to supply us with your bank routing and account number; please make sure that this number is correct. If you select the In-Store credit option, we'll post your payment under the email address you submit with your buyback. This credit will include a 20% bonus added to the book price. The full credit amount is good towards a future order with our company.

We'll process your payment once we receive your books and verify that they meet our Buyback Book Conditions. Buyback payment processing may take 4 to 6 weeks from the date your books are received. During end of semester seasons where buybacks occur more frequently, payments may be issued outside of the normal processing period. Books sold via our buyback program cannot be returned under any circumstance.

Shipping your Buyback

While you are submitting your buyback information, you will be asked to select a UPS or USPS shipping preference for your buyback. You will need to print out your preferred shipping label, and the Buyback Confirmation. Pack your buyback carefully so that it is not damaged while in-transit to our distribution center. Be sure you've included a printed copy of your Buyback Confirmation. Attach the completed Buyback mailing label to your package, then drop it in any collection box, give it to your postal carrier, or take it to your local or campus shipping office.

Your books must be postmarked or begin tracking within 7 days from the date you submitted your Buyback Order to guarantee the quoted buyback price. If you do not send your books to us within 7 days, your Buyback Order will automatically expire and you will need to submit a new order. Buyback prices may change as book demand changes.

If you choose USPS shipping, we strongly recommend purchasing Delivery Confirmation and/or Insurance through the Post Office. We cannot be responsible for any merchandise lost or damaged enroute to our facilities.

Making Changes to your Buyback

If you want to make changes to your buyback before shipping us your books, please submit a new buyback order. Your original order will automatically expire after 7 days, so there is no need to cancel it. If you have already shipped your books, we will make modifications to your order once it is received. Be aware that if the books you send us don't match the books listed on your buyback confirmation, your check will be delayed.

If We Aren't Buying...

We do our best to buy back a wide range of books and items on our website. On occasion we may not be offering to purchase a book or item. If we are not buying your item, it's most likely because of one of three reasons: 1) This item is not being re-used at your school, or is not in-demand across the nation, 2) This item is a study guide, workbook, teacher's edition or international edition that we cannot sell, or 3) The item is currently overstocked on our shelves.
