Summary

Potter Hylton Nel has developed a distinctive style of work, rich in references to the decorative arts, literature, art history, and South African life. His imagery ranges from penises to cats and angels, and his quotes are drawn from poetry and the daily press as well as his observations of the world. Author Biography

Hylton Nel has taught ceramics, ceramic history, and drawing at the Port Elizabeth Technikon, the Michaelis School of Fine Art, the University of Cape Town, and the Art School of Stellenbosch University.
