Summary

This book returns to the Jesus in the Gospels. That's the Jesus we believe in. Its purpose is to try to help the reader know Jesus as one person knows another. It is the outcome of a lifetime of study of the Gospels and of commentaries about them. It is also the result of eight pilgrimages to the Holy Land, including three months of study at the Ecumenical Institute of Tantur in Jerusalem that included visits to all the places where Jesus traveled -- from Caesarea Philippi in the north to Egypt in the south. May the reader come away from its pages more deeply in love with this Jesus whom countless millions call "My Lord and my God." And may they be more convinced than ever that the Gospels are truly "good news."
