Author Biography
Debra P. Avara is an Assistant Professor in the Behavioral Studies Department at Amarillo College. She teaches Sociology and Government and holds two Master of Arts Degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science with added hours to teach Sociology.
Prior to Amarillo College, she successfully owned and operated three business including Property Management (Rent houses) and Repair, and Skylight Shields, Etc. She prepared taxes for 13 years, 11 with a national chain and two with a CPA, and taught tax school for 7 years.
Debra is the author of What WE Should Have Learned in High School about Money, Sex and Marriage, 1s ed., 2009, and 2nd ed., 2010; What I need to know about My Money, Money Basics for the Challenged Individual, 2012; and The Money Maze, Don’t Get Lost in the Middle is for middle/junior high school students. The Money Maze and Money Basics for the Challenged Individual are also available in Spanish.
