Summary

Updated to reflect recent modifications in federal and state law, this book is a quick-reference source for lawyers, law students, legal professionals, and interested laypersons. The author defines more than 5,000 legal terms, using nontechnical language that remains legally accurate. Terms are documented with citations and apply to civil procedure, commercial and contract law, constitutional law, criminal law, property law, and torts. This title is also available in a smaller trim-size and type-size "mass market" edition.

''As the author points out in his preface, “The classic law dictionary weighs several pounds and contains hundreds of pages of elaborate definitions.” Defining more than 5,000 terms, this resource, now in its sixth edition, is a good alternative for libraries looking for a handy and inexpensive ready-reference book on legal matters. It’s designed especially for first-year law students but is accessible for laypersons as well.'' --Mary Ellen Quinn

A top pick for any law student, legal professional, or general lending library. Its take-along tote format makes it most accessible and handy while the definitions are clearly written. This textbook is a quick-reference source for lawyers, law students, legal professionals, and interested laypersons. The author defines more than 5,000 legal terms, using nontechnical language that remains legally accurate. I rate this cheap textbook and the seller 5 stars; I plan to buy from ecampus again in the future.
