Summary

Little Evie ventures into the wild woods with her basket of jam tarts and walks further and further into the trees, far from home. In a deep dark cave she finds – a huge wolf. The wolf comes closer and closer and then – Evie and the wolf share the tarts, sitting on the grass. Afterwards the wolf gives Evie a ride home on his back. This picture book is a powerful combination of menace and beauty, with the sensual surroundings of the woods and the wild creatures who live there.

Author Biography

Jackie Morris lives in Pembrokeshire, Wales, with children, dogs and cats. Ever since leaving college, Bath Academy of Art, at least one cat has watched over her while she works. Big cats and small are a passion in her life, and it was while reading and watching her cat Pixie sleeping in winter that the idea for I am Cat came about. Among her many books for Frances Lincoln are The Ice Bear, The Snow Leopard, Tell me a Dragon, and How the Whale Became by Ted Hughes. Catherine Hyde is an artist who exhibits her paintings in galleries across the UK. She has also published greetings cards and stationery as well as two picture books for Templar in the UK, The Firebird and The Princess's Blanket, which were sold in the USA by Candlewick Press. She is a strong self-publicist who sells her work off her website and who is keen to promote this book at festivals and events. This is her first book for Frances Lincoln.
