Summary
In her critically acclaimed memoir Dork Whore, Iris Bahr finally lost her virginity in the summer between high school and her freshman year at Brown University. In Touching My Void, she's ready for love, so she sets off on another madcap adventure, a year later but not much wiser. With a motley crew of travel companions, she urinates in full view of a bus of Peruvians, sneaks past armed guards to a forbidden beach, runs rapids that just drowned a tour guide, and discovers the best way to overcome fear of turbulence. At times, Bahr is hopelessly in love; at others, she is inches from death. But through all of her uproarious, hair-raising capers, Iris tries to reconcile her craving for mindblowing sex with her desire for a meaningful relationship--all in an attempt to become an adult. Sort of. The zany humor of Amy Sedaris meets the neurotic self awareness of Woody Allen in a voice truly Iris's own. An invigorating mix of poignant reflection and bawdy humor, this is one hell of a wild ride.
