Very Helpful  March 21, 2011

This book is very helpful for getting a handle on the menstrual cycle and how the birth control pills can affect the cycle. I refer to it a lot when I'm switching a patient from one OCP to another based on their symptoms. I appreciate the tables describing the biological activity of oral contraceptives. Makes it easier to switch pills when patients develop side effects to the ones they're using. And the information about non-oral products like injected and inserted contraceptives is a good addition.

Managing Contraceptive Pill Patients 2010: 5 out of 5 stars based on 1 user reviews.

Summary

Louisiana State Univ., New Orleans. Contains most of the known oral contraceptive (OC) side effects and their causes with a recommended plan of management.

The continually emerging selection of contraceptive pills and alternate methods demands vigilance to ensure patient safety and comfort. Dr. Dickey is ever-alert to the inclusion of the most recent research, published studies, new products and patient communication that he feels will enhance each new printing.

First time users of this valuable reference will soon understand why experienced clinicians acknowledge the book as "the bible of contraceptives".
