Summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. -- Spirit-Led Prophet tells the compelling story of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr -- pastor, theologian, scholar, orator, civil rights leader, martyr. King led a Christian based freedom movement of the oppressed through the way of nonviolence. As King's civil rights work progressed, he widened his efforts by becoming active in the peace movement and, finally, an advocate for all of the poor. It was in support of the sanitation workers' strike in Memphis that he was gunned down by an assassin's bullet. The nation and the world mourned the death of the 39-year-old martyred prophet.

Spirit-Led Prophet chronicles King's activities, illustrating his nonviolent faith and how he lived it out in his ministry. In the midst of a tumultuous public life, King prayed for guidance and depended upon God's spirit to lead him.
