Author Biography

With more than 170 journal articles, book chapters, and books, , Dr. Donald R. Coustan is internationally recognized as the premier researcher and clinician in obstetrics and gynecology, and a leading expert on the effects of diabetes on conception and pregnancy. Dr. Coustan is the Chace/Joukowsky Professor and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brown University’s School of Medicine, Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief at the Women and Infants’ Hospital of Rhode Island, and Surgeon-in-Chief, Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI.
