This publication of photographs from the early decades of the twentieth century is the first in a series of six that will present masterpieces from the National Gallery of Canada's international collection of photographs. Examining and representing the expansive, innovative and often contradictory modernist ethos that shaped the look of photographic art during the period 1900 to 1940, this exhibition will include over a hundred works of photographs from Germany, England, Czech Republic, United States, France, Russia, Hungary, Japan and Canada.
