Summary

Covering the most popular Bay Area biking destinations—as well as some well-kept secrets—this is the biker's guide to finding the best rides throughout the region. Moon Bay Area Biking guides bikers through the North, East, and South Bay, as well as surrounding areas, with rides alongside the Pacific Coast and through lush state parks. Brown outlines a wide variety of roads and trails, including family-friendly rides, paths good for wildlife viewing, and routes full of history. Complete with elevation charts, route maps, options to extend or shorten each ride, plus information on bike shops, riding clubs, and bike organizations throughout the Bay Area, Moon Bay Area Biking gives bicyclists the tools they need to create a more personal and memorable experience.

Author Biography

Ann Marie Brown’s love of bicycling began at age two, when she commandeered her older sister’s tricycle down the steepest stretch of her family’s driveway and had her first experience with “road rash.” She pedaled her first century tour at age 15, although the ride ended prematurely at mile 82 when her brakes failed on a steep descent in the rain. Fortunately, her bruises quickly healed, and her loving parents chipped in to buy her a new set of wheels. Ann Marie has been falling off one bike or another at regular intervals ever since. (She prefers the term “involuntary dismount.”) Ann Marie hikes, camps, and bikes more than 150 days each year. She is the author of 13 books with Moon, including several outdoors titles—Moon 101 Great Hikes of the San Francisco Bay Area, Moon California Waterfalls, and Moon Northern California Biking—and is the coauthor of California Hiking with Tom Stienstra.
