Summary

Professional travel writer Carolyn Heller shares the best ways to experience all that Ontario has to offer, from scuba diving shipwrecks in the Great Lakes to dining on contemporary fare at Toronto's hottest restaurants. Heller leads readers to the highlights of this fascinating region with trip ideas such as Food and Wine Touring, Active Adventures, and History and Culture—providing different approaches for different kinds of travelers. Complete with tips on enjoying more than just the falls on the Niagara peninsula, hopping a ferry to Pelee Island for wine-tasting and relaxation, and ice skating on the world's longest skating rink in Ottawa, Moon Ontario gives travelers the tools they need to create a more personal and memorable experience.

Author Biography

Born and raised in the United States, Carolyn B. Heller had visited Canada many times over the years before she relocated from Boston to Vancouver with her husband and twin daughters in 2003. She’s since sailed within sight of Vancouver’s downtown office towers and snowshoed in the mountains above the city; explored the temperate Gulf Islands and the towering Rockies; tasted wine in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley; eaten her way across multicultural Toronto; grooved to the tunes of Montréal’s Jazz Festival; and learned to love, or at least appreciate, poutine. Carolyn is an avid traveler and passionate food lover who has eaten on the streets, in fine restaurants, and everywhere in between—in nearly 40 countries. As a full-time travel and food writer, Carolyn has contributed to more than 40 travel and restaurant guides to destinations from Asia to New England to the Pacific Northwest. Her writing has appeared in publications including the Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Miami Herald, FamilyFun, FACES, Pulse, and in the book Travelers’ Tales Paris. Carolyn is a graduate of Brown University. In addition to travel and food, her interests include cooking, running, skiing, theater, studying languages, and hanging out on the beach with her family.
