Born in Dundee, Robin Gauldie was educated at Edinburgh University, where he studied history. He worked in a museum in Stirling and as a reporter on local newspapers in Carnoustie, Perth and Arbroath before moving to London. He is the author of numerous travel guides, including Globetrotter guides to Egypt, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, Goa, Ireland and Scotland.
