"This was one of the most focused books that I have come across in a while. It was originally published in the year 2010 with CD edition included. Now this is the seventh edition and it also has the CD accompaniment. Roger Kamien has done a commendable job in simplifying the techniques of producing quality music. This covers almost all genres of music like basic music, Middle Ages Music, and moving on to Renaissance music etc. This is a must for anybody who is attending music appreciation courses. The CDs provides a ready stock of illustrative quality music. Likes of Bach are illustrated and explained which makes this a valuable information source for a student of music appreciation."

I rented this rental textbook for a college class. It is easy to understand and learn from, it is a textbook so that's what you are getting. Good pictures and diagrams so far. There is great detail in his explanations of how various musical forms are put together. It is exactly what I needed for my music class.
