Author Biography

After studying History at Oxford, Tony Allan worked for many years with Time-Life Books; he served as series editor of the Time-Life History of the World and as an author and consultant on Myth and Mankind, a 20-volume study of comparative mythology. He is the author of Vikings, Ancient Rome, The Archaeology of the Afterlife, The Symbol Detective, and The Mythic Bestiary, all published by Duncan Baird.
