This book is a great book with tons of information that even if it wasn't a textbook would be a good nutritional information source. I purchased this text book for a nutrition class and found the information so beneficial that I continue to reference it even though my class is over. It has clear wording and extensive descriptions for most of its subjects. It explains subjects in a way that is interesting and not just scientific.

Summary

Ideal for both non-majors and mixed-majors, Nutrition: Concepts and Controversies provides practical applications and accessible explanations to dispel common misconceptions about nutrition and empower readers to make lasting behavior changes.

"Controversy" end-of-chapter essays provide a balanced view of scientific evidence regarding current and emerging topics in nutrition. Each Controversy has been thoroughly updated, and two new Controversies added: Chapter 4 "Are Carbohydrates 'Bad' for Health?" and Chapter 11 Controversy, "Nutritional Genomics: Can It Deliver on Its Promises?" There is also new information on vegetarian diet planning, supplements, antioxidant-rich foods, and more.
