Summary

For over 25 years Pediatric Cardiac Surgery has been the leading textbook in the field, and this thoroughly revised 4th edition maintains the comprehensive coverage characteristic of its predecessors. Each chapter reviews the embryology, physical findings, diagnostic criteria, and therapeutic choices associated with each disease entity and describes the latest in surgical techniques and stateofthe art technology. In addition, new chapters have been added in keeping with how the field has evolved since the publication of the previous edition. For example, several new chapters by new authors highlight recent advances in congenital heart surgery, including, for the first time, information on adult congenital heart disease. Other new chapters, all written by experts in their field, review advances in right ventricular to pulmonary artery conduits, arrhythmia surgery, doubleoutlet ventricles, and cardiac transplantation, among other key topics. As in previous editions of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, each chapter is accompanied by illustrations by renowned medical illustrator Rachid Idriss, whose artistic skill and depth of understanding of the subject make for drawings of unparalleled beauty and clarity.
