About the Author To My Fellow Travelers, Upon your approach into Cancun international airport, as you look out over the striking white sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise water and beautiful greenery, you will know you are in for an incredible vacation! During my first Cancun trip in March of 2000, I took along a few travel guidebooks to help me get acquainted with the surroundings. One thing that struck me is that there were so many fantastic places to dine and go out to at night that were conspicuously missing. Furthermore, when I read a great hotel review or one describing a restaurant, I wondered if I could trust that what the travel book was stating was honest and truthful. This is because they mentioned the same few places and presented reviews that sounded very similar to one another. I wondered if this was just a coincidence, or maybe there was something more going on beneath the surface. How is anyone to really know for sure? That is when I became inspired to do something about it.When I set out to write a Cancun travel guide, I wanted to design something that would be new and completely different from the rest. I wanted it to deliver much more information about establishments, in a better, easier to use format, while making it the most accurate and reliable Cancun Mexico tourist resource. The only way to do this was to not write it on my own, but to invite assistance and input from the experienced traveling public. With actual vacationers contributing their viewpoints and opinions, this would truly be a new concept - the one and only Cancun travel guidebook and survey.
