This package includes Physical Geography: The Global Environment, Third Edition, and the New Concise World Atlas--an ideal companion to this popular textbook, featuring hundreds of dramatic, large-format maps produced by Europe's finest team of cartographers. It offers full-color renderings of every region from the Arctic Ocean to the Volga Basin, revealing detailed political and topographical information about each of the 191 countries recognized by the United Nations.
The atlas opens with six pages of compiled statistics on world population, climate, and geography. In addition, a highly-illustrated "Earth in Space" thematic section provides twenty-two essays on the Earth's human and natural processes as well as numerous photographs, maps, charts, and graphs. The body of the New Concise consists of fully digitized, computer-generated maps that provide detailed political and topographical information. It includes "Regions in the News" sections that highlight areas that have undergone significant change or upheaval in the last year. These thematic maps illustrate local ethnic populations and occupied territories, helping to decode some of the issues plaguing Colombia, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and other areas.
