Summary

Eight (Platonic) lectures which primarily focus on inherent, irreparable flaws with elections, and on an alternative to elections. The alternative is based, generally, on an evaluative process, in which the people submit reason for and against political candidates, and the public reasons are evaluated in terms of better interest of society as a whole.

Author Biography

Stephen Garvey has a BA from The University of British Columbia, and a MA from The University of Cambridge. Also, he is author of the following books: The Critique of Reasonableness, Evaluative Democracy, and The Political Evaluator.
