Summary

Process control is an integral stage of textile manufacture; it involves controlling and predicting process variables such as time, temperature, pH, streaks and broken filaments. Using process control therefore reduces any defects and thereby reduces waste, minimises costs and reduces the environmental impact. This book discusses the use of process control across the entire process of textile manufacture, ranging from yarn manufacture through to textile applications. An introductory set of chapters describe the fundamentals of process control. Part two investigates the process control of yarn manufacturing. Part three focuses on process control aspects of fabric manufacture such as weaving and nonwoven fabrics. Part four examines how process control can be used in chemical processing and finishing and part five concludes with summarising process control methods for a range of textile products including technical textiles.
