very good book  March 12, 2011

I was glad that I was able to save money by buying a used textbook that was in great condition and delivered when they said it was going to be delivered. It is a very good textbook. It focuses on how project management is integral to the organization as a whole. It is informative and it is distinguished by its coverage of a broad range of industries to which project management principles can be applied. I enjoyed it :)

Project Management wMSProject2007 CD and Student CD: 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 2 user reviews.

Summary

As the market-leading textbook on the subject, Project Management: The Managerial Process, 5e is distinguished by its balanced treatment of both the technical and behavioral issues in project management as well as by its coverage of a broad range of industries to which project management principles can be applied. It focuses on how project management is integral to the organization as a whole. The 5th edition reflects the latest changes found in the practice. Other texts discuss the topics covered in this text but they do not view oversight as the project manager’s operating environment, as does Larson/Gray. Resumes of managers will soon be primarily a description of participation in and contributions to projects.

New Features:

-The 5th edition has been restructured to include four supplemental chapters that cover topics beyond the project management core. This includes a supplemental chapter on agile project management which has enjoyed success on new product and software development projects.

-Chapter 14, “Project Closure”, has been revised to include project retrospectives.

-New student exercises and cases have been added to most chapters in the 5th edition.

-Answers to selected exercises are now available in Appendix 1 and a third major computer exercise has been added to Appendix 2.

-The “Snapshot from Practice” boxes feature a number of new examples of project management in action as well as new research highlights that continue to promote practical application of project management.
