Many of us don't quite understand ghosts. In this book, I have told or retold these Scottish ghost stories, trying from my comfortable place in the twenty-first century to make sense of the past. Throughout the work, I have endeavored to be as true to historical fact as possible. My friend, Barbara Purchia, was a kind editor; my husband, D. Peter Lund's photography and ability to drive on the left certainly helped in the creation of this book; Marge Battin's advice to bring my winter clothes in May helped me be comfortable; and Clans and Castles of Scotland planned a wonderful trip. We even stayed in two castles, although only one was haunted! I am only sorry that Judy and Joe Meichelbeck could not go to Scotland with us! | |
