Author Biography

Spencer Morrissey is an Adirondack native who resides and works in the park. He works as a recreational consultant, outdoor writer, photographer, and licensed guide. Spencer is a 5 time 46er and a winter 46er and only the second person to ever bushwhack all 46 of the High Peaks. He is also a finisher of the Adirondack 100 highest, and is in the pursuit of climbing all the names peaks in the Adirondack Park (currently at 800+ of estimated 1740). Spencer is a published author with titles that include The Other 54, Adirondack Trail Runner, and Adirondack Trail Skier. Spencer’s photography is not limited to scenery, landscape, and nature—it is documents seclusion. In his work, you will find serenity and a form of peace that very few get to witness firsthand. He travels miles in the forest without aid of trails to find that a pristine spot, the summit of that one mountain, that perfect mirror like gem quality of a back country pond and capture that with a lens. In these pages, you will find depictions of nature’s tranquility and at other times you feel the pain of what he and his party goes through to reach the limits of the wilderness. With limited gear and a total dependency on the weather, hundreds of photographs are taken to obtain a sampling of perfect captures.
