Summary

Ramon de Palma y Romay (La Habana, 1812-1860). Cuba. Estudio en el Seminario de San Carlos y ejercio la abogacia desde 1842. Durante sus estudios universitarios dirigio el colegio La Empresa, en la provincia de Matanzas. Palma escribio cuentos, novelas cortas y poemas. Su obra "Matanzas y Yumuri" introduce el siboneismo en la literatura cubana. Asimismo Palma fundo y dirigio el "Aguinaldo Habanero" y "El Plantel", y colaboro en muchos otros periodicos. Sus primeros poemas aparecieron con el seudonimo Sr. Alfonso de Maldonado. Durante los ultimos anos de su vida estuvo en prision debido a sus ideas politicas a favor de la independencia de Cuba.
