Summary

This book presents photographs by artist Stan Gaz that form part of his Impact Project. The subject of the work is meteorite impact craters and their aftereffects on the landscape. Gaz travels the world in search of crater sites. These land forms are frequently difficult to find-buried under ice, obscured by foliage in rain forests, or eroded over millions of years in desert climes. In a rented helicopter with open sides, using a twentypound hand-held Hasselblad medium format wide-angle camera, he captures aerial views of these stunning sites, where objects from outer space once collided violently with the earth, setting off a process of destruction and creation.
