Excerpts

As evening shadows fell over Neyland Stadium, the natives were getting restless. With Tennessee's offense showing no spark, UCLA's 17-10 fourth-quarter lead seemed virtually insurmountable to a disappointed Volunteer throng attending the 1974 opener. Suddenly, an eerie hush fell over the assembled multitude, as if all 70,000 observers were struck speechless. Then came a murmur--almost imperceptible at first--which quickly exploded into a thunderous roar.

The cause of the commotion? A spindly young man with a white 7 on his orange jersey had emerged from the tunnel near Tennessee's dressing room and begun trotting toward the Volunteer sidelines.

Condredge Holloway was back!
