Theory of International Physical Education and Sports Studies for the Achievement of Peace

Noriaki Osada, teacher and philosopher, wrote the Theory of International Physical Education and Sports Studies for the Achievement of Peace with ¿three bold intentions¿ in mind: to awaken the physical education and sports scholars of the world to their social, nationalistic and global responsibilities; to promote the study of physical education and sports as a study of peace independent from other academic fields; and to affirm the value of such study. As demonstrated in the special atmosphere of the ancient and ever popular Olympic Games, Osada believes that it is the ¿physical education and sports scholars of the world [who] will, through physical education and sports research, create national theories that will lead to peaceful societies and peaceful nations.¿ Mr. Osada looks forward to the day when such sports terms as fair play and team spirit become the language of international relations. Now a resident of New York City, the author believes that with the establishment of physical education and sports studies for the achievement of peace, we in the United States will leave our mark in human history.
