Summary

Transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and minor strokes account for over half of all cerebrovascular events, and 20%-30% of major disabling strokes are shortly preceded by TIA or minor stroke. Yet the diagnosis and management of these important "warning" events have tended to be neglected in standard textbooks of stroke medicine.
