Transnational migration based on marriage has long contributed substantially to international mobility and has represented a major source of transnational engagement. Perhaps because such migration has often been treated as 'secondary' to labour migration, marriage has until recent years been a neglected field in migration studies.Exploring a previously neglected form of migration this timely volume brings together work from Europe and beyond, addressing the issue of transnational marriage from a range of interrelated perspectives, presenting substantial new empirical material, and taking a fresh look at concepts and theory in this area.
