Summary

From its earliest days, social work has been international. Practitioners, educators, researchers and students work across national borders. Service users move between countries. And globalization has an ever-increasing impact on social issues. This absorbing text argues that understanding international social work is more than just 'knowing about other countries', instead there is a need for a greater breadth of vision and depth of understanding.

Author Biography

RICHARD HUGMAN is Professor of Social Work at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.  He originally qualified and practised as a social worker in the UK before migrating to Australia, where he has taught and researched at several universities.
