Tim Farnsworth walks. He walks out of meetings and out of bed. He walks in sweltering heat and numbing cold. He will walk without stopping until he falls asleep, wherever he is. This curious affliction has baffled medical experts around the globe--and come perilously close to ruining what should be a happy life. Tim has a loving family, a successful law career, and a beautiful suburban home, all of which he maintains spectacularly well until his feet start moving again.

Ferris drops realism to ask but what if we did live without distractions? Not just the petty ones, such as e-mail, but all the carrots: a promotion, a successful resolution to that all-important lawsuit, a vacation in the British Virgin Islands. What does the Zen lifestyle touted by Yogis, existence without the relentless pursuit of the next desired thing, actually look like?

What drives a man to stay in a marriage, in a job' What forces him away' Is love or conscience enough to overcome the darker, stronger urges of the natural world' THE UNNAMED is a deeply felt, luminous novel about modern life, ancient yearnings, and the power of human understanding.

One of the best, intelligent novels I have read March 29, 2011
This textbook really is unlike any other I've ever read. It is a book about the life we have and how we cope with that life. The main portion of the textbook is devoted to how an unusual illness affects the lives of the main characters. It really made me think and look long and hard at my own life. The author does a wonderful job creating well developed characters you will care about and root for. This is one story you won't forget.
