Summary

Vintage Cakes Made Easy is an accessible guide to using pre-made moulds and mats to apply beautiful details to structured cakes or cupcakes.

Christina Ludlam shows every step of the cake-decorating process from the baking to the application of the icing, and the final touches—made with the mats or mould — that will set your cake apart from the rest. There are several projects to try, ranging from simpler, basic floral designs to elaborate cakes with lace ribbon effect, with motifs to suit all recipients.

The moulds and mats used throughout the book are widely, and readily, available; but Christina Ludlam also shows you how to use everyday objects to add a touch of finesse to your bake, for a vintage, classic look that will be remembered for years to come.

Author Biography

Christina Ludlam career as a professional cake decorator began as a hobby in 1988, and in January 2009 she began teaching at West Nottinghamshire College, UK. Her classes became increasingly popular and in 2012 she launched her own cake decorating school: Cakey Bakey Art Sugarcraft School.

In 2013 Christina became involved with Katy Sue Designs, one of the leading manufacturers of silicone cake moulds and mats, and she began demonstrating their products at Cake International. She later demonstrated at the 38th ICES Convention, Kentucky, USA, and since then Christina has regularly demonstrated Katy Sue Designs and PME products on live TV shows for both the UK and USA.

Christina also regularly designs projects, including so far two front cover projects, for Cake Craft & Decoration magazine. She currently has a following of around 9,000 loyal fans on Facebook.
