Author Biography

Jean Batou is a professor of modern international history at the University of Lausanne. He has published extensively on globalization, uneven development, and social movements in historical perspective. Henryk Szlajfer is a professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences and Warsaw University. He has published on Latin American history, economic nationalism, and European international affairs, and served as Polands ambassador to International Orangizations in Vienna from 2000 to 2004.
