Author Biography

TRUDY KNOWLES is an associate professor of education at Westfield State College in Westfield Massachusetts, where she helps coordinate the middle-level education program. She is actively involved in the education of young adolescents through her work in local schools, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middle-Level Educators, the New England League of Middle Schools, and the National Middle School Association.A former teacher and coach at the middle and high school levels, DAVE BROWN is currently an associate professor at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. His research and writing focus on understanding the lives of young adolescents and the challenges of middle school teaching. Brown presents workshops on middle-level teaching practices.
