Author Biography

JOANNE MCEWAN  is a Postgraduate Student in the School of Humanities, University of Western Australia. She is an editor for the postgraduate journal Limina: A Journal of Historical and Cultural Studies and has presented papers on lodgers in London and community participation in legal processes.

PAMELA SHARPE  is Principal Research Fellow in the School of Humanities, University of Western Australia. She has published many articles on the history of poverty in journals such as Economic History Review and Continuity and Change, and is author of Adapting to Capitalism: Working Women in the English Economy, 1700-1850.
