Summary

Aztecs -- the warrior nation of Mexico. After wandering for several hundred years, this nomadic tribe settled in what is today's central valley of Mexico and began conquering neighboring city-states. By 1431, their capital city, Tenochtitlan, presided over the entire valley. Subject nations sent tribute to the Aztecs in the form of food, gold, jaguar skins, chocolate, and the feathers of tropical birds for their gorgeous cloaks.
